Historic Downtown Statesville, an architecturally rich commercial district, is the heart of Iredell County. Adorning a specially created wall in the Statesville Civic Center, the 21 feet tall, 19 feet wide fresco was crafted by world renowned artist Ben Long, a native of Statesville.

Self Guided Walking Tour “A Walk Back In Time”   704-878-3480

“A Walk Back In Time” is a self-guided or guided tour of 31 historic Downtown Statesville locations.  The walking tour is approximately 2.5 miles and takes about 2 hours.  The self-guided tour features easy to use MP3 audio players with a guidebook and map, all secured for $3.00.  Take some time and experience Downtown Statesville they it once was.

Statesville Train Depot  
The 1911 Statesville Train Depot was saved through a community effort.  Funds were raised through the sale of "Save the Depot" prints.  With the intent to bring passenger service back through Statesville, the building has been purchased by the North Carolina Department of Transportation.


Historic Districts
There are four residential historic districts listed on the National Register of Historic Places in addition to 47 buildings comprising the Downtown Commercial District. Walking tours can be arranged to view the diverse architectural styles of the restored homes and buildings located in the districts.

Women in all parts of the world are significantly affected by health care deficiencies, climate changes, natural disasters, and economic crises. How can American women relate their struggles to those of women around the globe, and what can all people who work for social justice learn from struggles for gender equity? Free. St. Patrick’s Day Concert

Enjoy performances by the Statesville Traditional Irish Session and St. Joseph’s School of Irish Dance. The program received support from the NC Arts Council, an agency funded by the State of North Carolina and the National Endowment for the Arts. Free. Open to the public. Donations will be accepted at the door.

Storyteller Batt Burns & Friends at the Iredell County Public Library in Statesville

Irish storyteller Batt Burns, a professional storyteller who has appeared at the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough, Tennessee and at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, will perform at the Iredell County Public Library in Statesville on March 20 at 4:00 PM. Batt’s wife, Maura Burns, an Irish singer and concertina artist, will also be featured in this program. And a group of Iredell County musicians who specialize in Irish music, including Veda Bafford on fiddle; Rick Bafford on guitar; Mary Umbarger on harp and autoharp; Harriette Andrews on dulcimer; Sarah Borders on hammered dulcimer; and William Mangum on penny whistle, will play some Irish tunes to kick off the performance. Batt Burns performance in Statesville is brought to you by the Iredell Friends of the Library and is free and open to the public. However, attendance will be limited to 100 people on a first come, first served basis. To reserve a seat for this program, please pick up a free ticket at the Iredell County Public Library, 201 N.
